What’s it like to work with you?

I focus on making each session relaxed and enjoyable while guiding you through poses that work best for you. A comment I often receive is, "That was actually kind of fun!", and I consider that a sign that the session went well.

For most of my clients, this is their first time taking professional photos, and almost all of the graduates you see in my portfolio were first-timers. Having photographed graduates for more than five years, I'm used to working with people who may not feel comfortable in front of the camera, and I’ll guide you through everything.

I genuinely enjoy the energy of these sessions and the opportunity to celebrate this accomplishment with you. My goal is to make the process enjoyable while delivering photos that you'll be happy to look at for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please fill out the contact form on my website or send me a message on Instagram: @nirellephoto.

Once we’ve agreed on a date/time, I’ll ask you to send a signed contract along with a 50% nonrefundable deposit to reserve the date.

  • It’s best to book as early as possible. I suggest scheduling your grad photos in the early spring, during spring break, or a few days after graduation to avoid having crowds in the background. Dead week (for UC Berkeley students) and the week of graduation can get especially crowded.

  • I recommend scheduling at least one hour before sunset to get the most flattering light during golden hour.

  • For solo graduation photos:

    • 60-minutes (Recommended)
This session length allows enough time to take a variety of photos at 3~4 campus locations and create a well-rounded gallery.

    • 90-minutes
I recommend a 90-minute session for students who would like to invite friends or family, take photos at additional locations, change outfits, or have more time for posing guidance.

    • 120-minutes
I recommend this session length if you would like to take photos at two or more locations (e.g., University of San Francisco Campus and Golden Gate Bridge)

For students taking photos in groups:

    • 60-minutes
This option is for students who prefer a shorter, more streamlined session. We’ll take both group and individual photos, though there will be less time for individual posing guidance and the number of poses will be limited. Works for groups of 2~3.

    • 90-minutes (Recommended)
This session length allows enough time to take both group photos and a variety of individual portraits of each graduate. Recommended for groups of 2~4.

    • 120-minutes
This session length allows time for group photos as well as a wider variety of individual portraits for each graduate. Recommended for large groups, or for smaller groups who would like more locations and pose variety.

  • You are more than welcome to bring friends and family to your session. I recommend adding at least 30 minutes to your session depending on the number of group photos that you would like to take.

  • I recommend bringing all of your graduation regalia (cap, gown, and stole) and any celebratory props such as flowers, balloons, or confetti (compostable if possible).

  • I’m based in the Bay Area and primarily photograph graduates at UC Berkeley and schools in San Francisco. I’m happy to travel to other locations. Just let me know your school, and we can discuss availability and any applicable travel fees.

I graduated from UC Berkeley and have been photographing graduates for more than five years. Graduation photography is where I began my photography journey, and it still holds a special place in my work. No matter where you are graduating from, let’s document this chapter with photos you’ll be proud to look back on.
